It is optimized for high-performance CPU operation with features like DR.MOS 14+2+1 phase power design, 8 PCB layers, TUF chokes and capacitors, and ESD guards.
Today, we will take a look at the ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI, which comes in the MATX form factor.
Configuration and Specifications


The ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI adopts the latest AM5 socket and fully supports the latest 9000 and 8000 series AMD processors. It not only allows stable memory overclocking through AMD Expo™ technology but also supports both PCIe 5.0 and 4.0, maximizing the performance of the latest graphics cards and NVMe SSDs.

The product package includes the motherboard itself, 2 SATA cables, an ASUS WIFI Q-antenna, an M.2 rubber package, an M.2 SSD screw package, TUF gaming stickers, and a quick start guide.
Appearance and Features

The ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI from Daewon CTS, despite being an mATX standard, offers a rich configuration of expansion slots and ports, making it ideal for building high-performance gaming PCs using mini tower or small to medium-sized cases.


With the adoption of the AM5 socket, it provides perfect compatibility with the latest AMD Ryzen CPUs. Combined with the enhanced performance and power efficiency of the AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, you can experience PCIe 5.0 and enhanced memory overclocking.


The wide aluminum heatsink and meticulously designed fin array effectively dissipate heat even under high loads, maintaining stable temperatures during prolonged use.

Supporting DDR5 memory, it can be expanded up to 192GB through 4 DIMM slots. Memory overclocking is made easy with AMD Expo™ technology, and stable performance is ensured with AEMP (ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile) technology.

It offers one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. When using Ryzen 9000 and 7000 series processors, PCIe 5.0 is supported, while the 8000 series supports PCIe 4.0 x16.

The PCIe Q-Release feature allows for easy attachment and detachment of graphics cards, simplifying upgrades and maintenance.

It provides 3 M.2 slots, and when using AMD 9000 and 7000 series CPUs, the M.2_1 slot supports PCIe5.0 x4 mode, offering fast data transfer speeds compatible with the latest PCIe5.0 NVMe SSDs.

Chipset

The AMD B850 chipset and Realtek ALC1220P chipset applied to the ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI are audio-shielded and support playback up to 32-bit 192kHz.

The Realtek RTL8125D is a 2.5GbE (2.5 Gigabit Ethernet) controller chipset, providing fast network speeds and is widely used in the latest motherboards, NAS, and high-performance network equipment.



The wireless network chipset is equipped with MediaTek MT7922A22M and is mounted on ASUS’s V-M.2 PCIe Wi-Fi card module.
I/O Ports

The rear I/O port configuration includes HDMI, DisplayPort, 4 USB 2.0, 3 USB 10Gbps, 2.5Gb LAN, USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C (20Gbps), 4 USB 5Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E antenna, and audio ports.

A flashback feature is provided, allowing BIOS updates without a separate CPU, making system updates convenient.

The USB Type-C Gen2 port supports ultra-fast transfer speeds of 20Gbps, ensuring optimal performance when connecting large external disks or high-speed peripherals.


With a built-in Wi-Fi 6E chipset, it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands, and the Bluetooth V5.3 function allows connection with various Bluetooth devices.

The AMD Ryzen 7 9700X shows excellent performance in gaming and tasks with its multi-threaded performance and high clock speed. The memory is the Micron Crucial DDR5-6400 CL38 PRO Overclocking White model, supporting fast response times with CL38 and stable overclocking.
BIOS


ASUS’s BIOS is known for its user-friendly UI and various features.










ASUS’s intuitive UEFI BIOS allows even beginners to easily configure their system, while also offering a wide range of overclocking options for advanced users. With EZ Mode, essential settings can be conveniently adjusted in just a few steps.
Performance Testing

We conducted various performance tests to evaluate the capabilities of the ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI.


Using the Lexar NM790 2TB NVMe SSD, the CrystalDiskMark test showed sequential read speeds of 7,380MB/s and write speeds of 6,652MB/s, fully leveraging the power of PCIe 4.0.

To test the rear USB Type-C Gen2 port, we connected a Micron Crucial X10 Pro. The results showed a sequential read speed of 2,131MB/s and a write speed of 1,857MB/s, demonstrating excellent support for high-speed external storage devices.



We also measured CCD1 CPU BOOST CLOCK and VRM temperatures during 10 minutes of gameplay in God of War: Ragnarök. Throughout the test, the CCD1 boost clock remained consistently high, while the powerful VRM design kept temperatures within a stable range—proving the board’s excellent thermal performance and durability under sustained high loads.



Lastly, we tested Wi-Fi performance using an SKB Giga Lite internet plan. With support for Wi-Fi 6E, the test showed transfer speeds and latency nearly identical to a wired connection, confirming excellent wireless performance.
Final Thoughts

The ASUS TUF Gaming B850M-PLUS WIFI by Daewon CTS is a durable and highly expandable motherboard, well-suited for mid-range gaming systems. In particular, when paired with the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, it delivers stable performance and efficient thermal management.
