While the Astro A20 X is primarily constructed from plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap. Instead, its robust yet flexible design suggests excellent durability.

Image 8

Weighing less than 290g, comparable to lightweight headsets, this product minimizes strain on the neck and head during long periods of wear. Logitech boldly removed unnecessary elements in its materials and headband design to keep the headset as light as possible.

The headband is flexible and features a sliding mechanism, allowing users to adjust its length to fit their head shape.

Image 12

The head cushion is band-shaped, with two slots at each end for length adjustment.

The ear cushions are made of a tightly woven fabric, offering excellent breathability. They are also detachable, making cleaning or replacement easy.

Image 14

It features Logitech’s PRO-G 40mm biocellulose drivers. Biocellulose, an eco-friendly material cultivated from wood fibers by microorganisms, reproduces sound more naturally and clearly than standard plastic drivers.

Various control buttons are located on both ear cup housings. On the left, there’s the power switch, Bluetooth button, volume wheel, and microphone mute button. On the right, you’ll find the PLAYSYNC switch button and the game/chat volume mixer.

The PLAYSYNC button is a core feature of this headset, allowing instant switching between connected devices with a single press. It also utilizes MixAmp technology to individually adjust game sound and chat audio.

The full-range microphone, supporting a 48kHz sampling rate, is detachable and can be removed when not needed. A red LED illuminates when the microphone is muted, making its status easy to check.

Logitech’s Blue VO!CE feature offers various professional functions such as noise reduction and voice clarity enhancement.

For the first time in the Astro series, LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting has been integrated. Large RGB lighting zones on both earcups allow users to enjoy the distinctive RGB effects of gaming headsets. Customization is possible with 16.8 million colors via G Hub software, and lighting effects can be synchronized with games.

With RGB lighting off, the battery lasts up to 90 hours, and even with default RGB settings, it provides 40 hours of use. A power-saving feature automatically turns off the headset after 30 minutes of no audio signal, making battery management convenient.

The PLAYSYNC Base is a core component of this product. It features two USB-C ports on the back, allowing two devices to be connected simultaneously. For instance, you can connect both a PC and a PS5 and switch between them instantly using the headset’s button.

Image 26

The Nintendo Switch can also be connected via the station’s USB port. The LED indicator on the front of the base shows the currently connected device. When connected to a PC, it supports 24-bit audio and allows for various settings via G Hub.

Connectivity and Software

Image 27

Up to two devices can be connected simultaneously via the USB-C ports on the rear of the PLAYSYNC Base. When connected to a PC, you can enjoy 24-bit high-fidelity audio and make detailed adjustments through the G Hub software. Console connections also support all unique features of each platform.

Image 28

G HUB is Logitech’s integrated gaming software, a platform for managing and customizing Logitech G series products in one place. Its intuitive interface and powerful features allow you to control your Logitech gear.

Image 29

Connecting to a PC is very simple: just connect the PLAYSYNC Base to your PC, and it will be automatically recognized. Installing Logitech G Hub software unlocks even more features.

Image 30

Image 31

G Hub offers a 10-band parametric EQ, allowing for precise audio adjustments. Each frequency can be adjusted in 0.1dB increments within a ±6dB range, and in advanced mode, you can directly input specific frequencies, Q values, and gain.

Image 32

Additionally, game-specific EQ profiles tuned by Razer’s esports pros are provided, allowing you to enjoy optimized sound for different games.

Image 33

Image 34

Microphone settings are also highly detailed. It offers professional audio processing features like high-pass filter, noise gate, noise reduction, de-esser, de-popper, and compressor. Blue VO!CE technology also enables real-time voice monitoring, allowing you to adjust your volume while monitoring your voice before broadcasting or joining a game.

Image 36

LIGHTSYNC is Logitech’s RGB lighting technology, providing immersive lighting effects that synchronize in real-time with games, music, and video content. It supports 16.8 million colors and allows for precise control.

Connecting to the Nintendo Switch 2 is simple. You can connect via a USB cable to the Switch dock or via Bluetooth in handheld mode.

Image 39

The A20 X is compatible with almost all gaming platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, as well as smartphones and tablets. It uses the 2.4GHz band with LIGHTSPEED wireless technology and also supports Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless mobile device connectivity.

Image 40

Unfortunately, Logitech’s MixAmp technology is fully supported only on Xbox X|S and PC. On PlayStation, it supports 3D audio, but the game/chat mixer functionality is limited. However, the ability to quickly switch between PC and console gaming devices was personally very satisfying, making PLAYSYNC alone a significant benefit.

RGB Effects

Image 41

Image 42

The LIGHTSYNC RGB, applied for the first time in the Astro series, supports 16.8 million colors, and various effects can be set in G Hub.

Image 43

In addition to presets like fixed color, breathing, and color cycle, you can also create your own animations in Freestyle mode. Notably, it offers game-integrated features that help gameplay, such as displaying health or special ability status with colors.

Sound Test

Image 44

The sound quality of the Logitech PRO-G 40mm biocellulose drivers is satisfying. Playing high-quality music with the flat preset produced a balanced sound. The bass was impactful without being overbearing, and the mid-high frequencies were clear without causing ear fatigue. It showed particularly excellent reproduction in vocal-centric music.

Image 45

Its performance in FPS games is also satisfying. The drivers emphasize the mid-range, making voices and dialogue very clear, and accurately delivering crucial sound cues like footsteps and gunshots within the game.

Overall, as a wireless gaming headset specialized for competitive games rather than music listening, its excellent spatial awareness and soundstage allow for deeper immersion in games. Of course, with the 10-band equalizer, detailed adjustments are possible, making it perfectly adequate for music and movie watching too.

Real-World Usage

Image 46

During two weeks of using the Logitech A20X gaming headset, the most impressive aspect was the convenience of multi-platform switching. I primarily work on PC but recently enjoy casual games on my Nintendo Switch 2, and the ability to instantly switch with a single PLAYSYNC button was incredibly convenient.

Image 47

Image 48

As expected from a lightweight headset, wearing it for extended periods caused no significant strain on my neck or head. Compared to other heavier headsets, the fatigue was noticeably less. The fabric ear cushions also provided a comfortable fit without pressure on the ears, thanks to their soft cushioning.

Image 49

In terms of sound quality, I felt it was optimized for gaming, particularly demonstrating very useful sound quality for pinpointing enemy locations in FPS games. While certainly adequate for music listening, I don’t believe it reaches the level preferred by audiophiles.

Image 50

And battery life is also worth mentioning: even with RGB on, I could use it for almost a week without worrying about charging, and with RGB off, it lasted nearly two weeks without needing a charge.

Concluding the Review

Image 51

Image 52

The Logitech Astro A20X is a wireless headset for multi-platform gamers, offering convenient switching between devices with PLAYSYNC technology, and its lightweight design and excellent battery life ensure comfort during extended use.

Image 53

The 40mm biocellulose drivers deliver gaming-optimized sound, precisely conveying direction and distance, especially in FPS games. The 48kHz high-quality microphone and Blue VO!CE technology are also indispensable features for team communication.

For those who game across PC, consoles, and mobile, and seek comfort during long gaming sessions, the Logitech Astro A20X is definitely worth considering.
