Design and Features

The DeathAdder V4 Pro measures 128 x 68 x 44mm, classifying it as a medium-to-large mouse. While retaining the iconic ergonomic shape of the DeathAdder series, it features refined details based on feedback from professional gamers.
The most striking change is its 56g weight. Over 10% lighter than the previous DeathAdder V3 Pro, it significantly reduces fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

The newly implemented 4th-gen optical mouse switches offer a lifespan of over 100 million clicks and a crisper click feel. Tested to withstand 1 million clicks, they boast zero debounce delay and exceptional responsiveness, even during rapid clicking.

The DeathAdder V4 Pro features an optical scroll wheel. More durable than mechanical scroll wheels, it eliminates reverse scrolling and ghost input issues. Experience the precision of pro-grade tracking and smooth scrolling with tactile feedback.

The left-side buttons are spaced further apart and feature a separated design to prevent misclicks. The gap between the main click buttons and the bottom housing has been reduced for faster clicks.

The PTFE feet on the bottom are significantly larger than the previous generation. The increased surface area enhances contact with the mousepad, providing smoother, more consistent gliding, precise tracking, and reliable stopping power.

The newly developed 2nd-gen Focus Pro 45K optical sensor is a top-of-the-line sensor supporting up to 45,000 DPI and 85G acceleration. With a tracking speed of 900 IPS and 99.8% resolution accuracy, it guarantees flawless tracking on any mousepad. This sensor is not a rebranded PAW3950, but a completely new sensor.
2nd-Gen HyperSpeed Wireless System

Along with hardware upgrades, the mouse incorporates the 2nd-gen HyperSpeed Wireless system. It achieves 63% higher power efficiency and 37% lower latency compared to the previous generation.

The dongle design has been completely revamped from a trapezoidal shape to a hemispherical one, significantly improving connection stability. This allows for a consistent 8000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes, delivering lag-free performance wirelessly. Three LED indicators on the front display connection quality, battery status, and polling rate settings at a glance.

The DeathAdder V4 Pro is the industry’s first to support a true 8000Hz polling rate. This 8x faster response rate compared to the standard 1000Hz meets the extreme precision demands of professional esports.
Differences from the DeathAdder V3 Pro

Comparing it directly to my main mouse, the DeathAdder V3 Pro, revealed several noticeable differences.

While maintaining the overall shape, the surface finish has changed completely. The textured finish of the V3 has been replaced with a smooth, matte coating on the V4, giving it a more premium feel.

Sensor performance has been significantly enhanced: DPI from 30,000 to 45,000, tracking speed from 750 IPS to 900 IPS, and acceleration from 50G to 85G. The polling rate has also increased eightfold from 1000Hz to 8000Hz.

The dimensions are almost identical, but the side button layout has changed. The buttons are now separated with spacing to prevent misclicks, and the gap between the main buttons and the bottom housing is narrower for faster clicking.

The bottom feet are considerably larger, increasing contact with the mousepad for more stable gliding and precise stopping.

The most noticeable change is the dongle design. It’s changed from a flat trapezoidal shape to a dome shape, providing much more stable placement on a desk. The three LEDs on the front conveniently display connection status, battery level, and polling rate.
The click sound of each switch is distinctly different from the previous generation. The 4th-gen optical switches provide a crisper, more tactile click feel, but they are noticeably louder. After a few days of use, I found the clear feedback actually enabled more accurate clicking.
Connectivity and Software

The dongle itself has LED indicators that visually display the connection status and mouse status. This information can be customized through Synapse.

Razer Synapse is an integrated software suite that manages all functions of RAZER products. It allows you to configure all the detailed features of the DeathAdder V4 Pro, and its intuitive interface is easy for anyone to use.

The Customize menu lets you map different functions to each of the eight buttons. From basic clicks and keyboard mappings to complex macros, you have complete freedom of configuration.

A particularly interesting feature is the newly introduced AI Launcher. This allows you to call up the AI Prompt Master, which can directly execute ChatGPT prompts, providing quick access to AI assistance during games or work.

The Performance menu allows you to adjust DPI sensitivity and polling rate settings. The DeathAdder V4 Pro natively supports a true 8000Hz polling rate. The Smart Polling Rate Switcher automatically switches to 8000Hz when entering fullscreen games and back to 1000Hz for general use, optimizing battery life.

The Sensitivity Clutch feature allows you to precisely import DPI settings from your previous mouse. This is a very useful feature that significantly reduces the time needed to adapt to a new mouse.

The Power menu lets you adjust sleep mode duration and low-power mode settings. Various options are provided to extend the already impressive 150-hour battery life.

Automatic calibration for various mousepads is provided, and the lift-off distance can be finely adjusted in 26 steps. This ensures consistent tracking performance on any mousepad.

The Advanced menu allows you to configure Dynamic Sensitivity and Rotation Adjustment. Dynamic Sensitivity automatically adjusts DPI based on hand movement speed, while Rotation Adjustment fine-tunes the sensor angle to optimize for individual mouse usage patterns.
User Experience

The DeathAdder V4 Pro is incredibly comfortable. While it feels slightly large for my smaller hands, the ergonomic design allows my wrist and fingers to rest naturally in a palm grip. Users with average hand sizes will likely find it very comfortable.

Its light 56g weight eliminates fatigue even during long gaming sessions, and the secure grip makes it feel like an extension of my hand.

The effect of the larger PTFE feet is immediately noticeable. The mouse glides effortlessly across the mousepad. At the same time, the braking performance is excellent, allowing for precise stops, which is invaluable in FPS games requiring precise aiming.
Pressing the DPI button on the bottom triggers a Synapse popup displaying the current DPI, providing convenient visual confirmation.

In League of Legends, where quick skill combos and precise clicks are crucial, the DeathAdder V4 Pro meets all the demands. The 4th-gen optical switches’ zero debounce delay and 8000Hz polling rate combine to eliminate any perceived lag between intended skill activation and execution.
In tactical FPS games like Valorant, precise aiming is essential. The 45K DPI sensor’s accuracy and 900 IPS tracking speed deliver perfect precision even during rapid flick shots. The Dynamic Sensitivity feature is particularly useful, automatically applying optimized sensitivity for close-quarters combat and long-range sniping.
Conclusion

The Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro can be considered the culmination of the 19-year DeathAdder legacy. With its 56g ultra-lightweight design, 2nd-gen HyperSpeed Wireless system, true 8000Hz polling rate, 4th-gen optical switches, and 45K DPI sensor, it represents the pinnacle of current gaming mouse technology.

The advancements in wireless technology are particularly noteworthy. Supporting 8000Hz polling rate in both wired and wireless modes, the impressive 150-hour battery life ensures worry-free extended gaming sessions.
From the Deathadder V3 to the V4, this is the ultimate gaming mouse. If you’re looking for a gaming mouse, the DeathAdder V4 Pro is undoubtedly one of the best choices available. It’s highly recommended for gamers seeking a top-tier mouse for League of Legends or Valorant.
